Hi,
We will have a guest talk by Ishan Levy (MIT) on Friday, 3/17 at 11AM in Rubenstein Room #1 .
Title: The algebraic K-theory of type 2 spectra
Abstract: The algebraic K-theory of the categories of finite type n spectra contain fundamental structural information about the stable homotopy category, such as a refinement of the thick subcategory theorem of Hopkins--Smith to a classification of stable subcategories. However, until recently almost nothing was known about it for n>1. In this talk I will explain how the algebraic K-theory of type 2 spectra can be computed in terms of K-theory of discrete rings and topological cyclic homology. In particular for p=2, K_0 is isomorphic to Z + infinitely many copies of Z/2. I will also explain how to explicitly construct type 2 spectra representing the K_0 classes.
I hope to see you there!
Best,
Piotr
