Institute for Advanced Study

Fri May 21 16:04:30 EDT 2021
Good afternoon,
A brief overview of the construction activities around campus scheduled
for next week.
Rubenstein Commons
The first glass panel is expected to be installed later next week. A real
milestone. Glass installation will continue through the summer.
Elsewhere in Rubenstein, work continues on the window framing and internal
wiring.
Energy Savings Project
Geothermal System - The well system is operational, and providing
geothermal water to all buildings. The site work continues behind Simonyi
Hall. The restoration of grass areas around campus, originally scheduled
for this week, should be completed next week.
West Building - Boiler demolition is complete, but the removal of old
steam pipe will continue into next week and beyond. Again, the removal of
the equipment and piping out of the basement and into the dumpsters
(typically once a week) may be noisy. If the noise becomes an issue or
there are meetings scheduled (toward the north end of the building),
please contact me as soon as possible.
Bloomberg Hall - The heat pump in Bloomberg Hall is operational and
providing chilled water to the Bloomberg half of the building. The
Biology half is still receiving chilled water from West Building. Next
week, demolition of pumps, piping, and other equipment will begin in both
the Bloomberg and Biology mechanical rooms on the ground floor. This
equipment will be removed via the ground floor hallways. The contractors
have been instructed to keep any noise to a minimum. Please contact me if
it becomes overly disruptive.
Fuld Hall - Next week the installation of chilled water lines in the
basement and crawl spaces of Fuld Hall will resume. They will not be
working in the basement rest rooms, so those will remain open. But there
may be contractors working in the hallway, so please avoid them as you
best you can. There will be no work on floors 1-4.
HS/SS Library - The heat pump in the Library is operational and is
providing chilled water to the building. Next week minor mechanical work
will continue in the mechanical spaces.
Simonyi Hall - The heat pump in Simonyi Hall is operational and providing
chilled water to all areas of the building. No work is scheduled for
Simonyi Hall next week.
There will be no work next week in A, B, and D Buildings, Simons Dining,
or Wolfensohn Hall.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the projects and
the work being done, please contact me.
Also, if you have upcoming events on campus that you fell might be
affected by the construction, please contact me.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
