[math-ias] Liz Wood to Join Swarthmore

Dear Colleagues and Friends, 



I write to share news that Elizabeth Boluch Wood, Associate Director for Development and Communications, will be leaving the Institute. Liz will be moving to Swarthmore College, where she will assume the role of Vice President of Advancement in early June. 



On behalf of the IAS community, I’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to Liz for her invaluable service to the Institute. I’d also like to personally recognize Liz for her wise counsel and tireless work ethic over the years. 



An accomplished leader with a long history in educational and nonprofit fundraising, alumni relations, and communications, Liz joined IAS as Chief Development Officer in 2016, following a 17-year career at Princeton University where she served as Vice President for Development. In her five years leading development, communications, events, and other areas of our operation, Liz demonstrated creativity, insight, and dedication to the IAS mission. 



Guiding a team of colleagues with her stated goals of “raising financial support, raising profile, engaging, informing, and enlightening,” Liz introduced several new development and communications initiatives including the IAS Einstein Gala, IAS Spotlight, Distinguished Journalism Fellowship, Community Bulletin, and more. Liz will conclude her time at IAS having raised close to $50 million in her last year—a year in which the pandemic shut down our campus and precluded events and in person meetings. 



Please join me in wishing Liz well as she moves both to a new home and new job in Pennsylvania. We will miss her leadership and friendship at the Institute and will find a suitable way to celebrate together before her last day.
