Notice of Construction of the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center

This notice is to inform you that construction of the new Shelby White and
Leon Levy Archives Center, to be located at the west side of the HS/SS
Library, will begin next week on Monday September 30, 2013. The Center,
funded through a Leon Levy Foundation grant, will add archives storage
space in an environmentally controlled 1,700 square feet building
addition. In addition, a related 12 inch water main extension project
will also begin next week.

On Monday, September 30, 2013, a contractor will be on site to begin
mobilization for construction of the addition. The contractor's
construction trailer is scheduled to be placed on the grass between the
berm and the curb at the south end of Parking Area B. In addition, a
number of parking spaces on the east side of the parking area will be
unavailable so that a construction fence can be installed on Monday. The
construction fence will give the contractor sufficient room to work and
provide a safe level of protection around the site. This fence will block
13 parking spaces and be in place for the duration of the construction
project, which is targeted for completion in June 2014. Periodic closure
of additional parking spaces will be required for short time periods to
accommodate large trailer truck deliveries of construction-related
materials and equipment as well as overhead crane work on an as-needed
basis during the building's construction. Construction work at the west
side of the lower level of the HS/SS Library is also included in the scope
of this project. This will require sections of the lower level to be
closed for periods of time; prior notification will be provided as
appropriate.

The water main extension project involves installing a new underground
water main from the existing water line at a point north of the soccer
field at Einstein Drive to the new building. The line's route will take
it under Einstein Drive, then turning west and heading to the Parking Area
B access road. It will then be routed under Einstein Drive once again and
under the access road to the west side of Parking Area B before crossing
Parking Area B and terminating at the new building. At least one lane of
traffic will remain open at all times on all roads but some road surfaces
along backfilled trench lines will be rough temporarily, until final
asphalt paving is completed. The water main extension project, targeted
for completion in December 2013, presently has no water service
interruptions planned.

Hours of construction will typically be 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through
Friday but some work may take place at other times. With this major
construction, noise is anticipated and we apologize for any inconvenience
this may create.

For the safety of all, we request that drivers reduce speed in
construction areas and obey signs and contractors' traffic control
personnel.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we undertake this
important project to improve the Institute's facilities.

Tony
