To the Institute Community:
Beginning today, you may order free tickets for the Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1, Edward T. Cone Concerts featuring eighth blackbird. In "Shifted in Flight," the Grammy Award–winning, wildly inventive sextet eighth blackbird will perform a collection of new works by young composers. The program will feature Andy Akiho's "erase"; Derek Bermel's "Tied Shifts," "Passing Through," and "Soul Garden"; György Ligeti's "Études"; Steve Mackey's "Lonely Motel"; and Mayke Nas's "Anyone can do it." eighth blackbird will be joined by students from the Curtis Institute of Music for the performance. The program will be the same on both evenings.
There will be a concert talk following the performance on Friday. On Saturday, a concert talk will precede the performance at 6:30 p.m. in Wolfensohn Hall. Performances begin at 8 p.m.
Please note that performances are not suitable for children under the age of eight.
**Tickets are required for the concerts and are offered through an online registration system. As a member of the Institute community, you can request up to two tickets beginning today by visiting the following links. Please note that tickets sometimes go quickly; the public will be able to request tickets beginning Wednesday, November 14.**
